The John R. Dixon Fellowship Fund

In honor of Dr. Dixon ("Jack"), the Professor John R. Dixon Fellowship Fund has been established in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

The Fund is endowed by a gifts from Steve Luby and Ralph Verrilli, former graduate students in the Mechanical Design Automation Lab at UMass.
Luby founded the software firm Vistagy, Inc., in 1991, served as CEO, and is currently Senior Vice President, Specialized Engineering Software at Siemens.
Verrilli was Vice-President of Operations at VISTAGY, and is currently Vice-President, Operations, at Siemens PLM (Specialized Engineering Software).
Luby and Verrilli were featured in an article by the UMass Alumni Magazine, Summer 2013 issue.

The purpose of the Fund is to support a graduate student within the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at UMass, Amherst. The student must be a U. S. citizen and priority will be given to a student from New England, New York, or New Jersey. The award can be renewable for up to one year. The selection of the candidate will be made by the Graduate Program Director for the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in consultation with the Department Head.
